How to Point My Domain to My cPanel VPS Server

We recommend 3 ways to set up DNS on your managed VPS.

Setting up for a single domain:

Link your domain to your server’s IP using an A record. This can be done through your DNS provider or from your domain control panel to your main IP address.

Configure your custom nameservers:

For full DNS management: If you would like to use your own nameservers for your server and for multiple domains, please add these records in your domain registrar’s control panel:

Example: ns1.yourdomain.com [your server main IP]
Example: ns2.yourdomain.com [your server main IP]

Then you just need to add these records from this page on the cPanel/WHM: Home => Server Configuration => Basic WebHost Manager Setup at the bottom in the block Nameservers.

After you complete this process, DNS propagation can take 24-48 hours, though in many cases it happens faster. For more details about custom nameserver setup, check out cPanel’s guide: How to configure nameservers in a cPanel/WHM server.

Recommended setup: Custom nameservers with a DNS cluster:

The best setup is to configure a cPanel DNS Only cluster with at least 2 additional Linux VPS servers. If you’re interested, reach out to our sales team. We can offer 2 cPanel DNS Only servers for the price of one.

Please note that by default, we provide managed VPS with 1 web hosting account. You may host unlimited domains within this account. If you would like to have additional accounts for your managed VPS server, you will need to upgrade your license tier.
